John S. Cornwell
County Constable 50 years, Buried

Requiem Mass for John Shanks Comwell, 85, a Dallas County constable for 50 years, was celebrated Thursday morning at the St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, 6335 Kenwood.

Mr. Cornwall, of 7622 Fisher Rd., died at his home Wednesday. Retired, he was one of the county's first constables.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine; two nieces, Mrs. Thomas Hatch, Dallas, and Mrs. Joe M. Dawson, Los Angeles, Calif.; and three nephews, A. S. Nelms, Henry C. Potter and Richard E. Potter, all of Dallas.

Rev. Msgr. John T. Gulczynski was the celebrant at the mass. Burial was in Calvary Hill Cemetery.
